1.1 Act Structure Details and Captions
The year is 2029 and there has been no discussion or sightings of new mutants.
Professor X is now suffering from a brain disease that causes him to have seizures which negatively effect those around him. Thus he takes medication and is cared for by Logan and Caliban.
Want - A feeling of family
Wolverine, now a alcoholic limo driver who’s health is being compromised by the adamantium within him believes anyone he cares about gets hurt and therefore care about himself and his father and seeks to buy a boat and runaway with Charles (his father)
Want - Boat
Need - Act as father figure to new mutants
A new mutant having escaped from Alkali-Transigen seeks to find Eden, the place her nurse ‘mother’ spoke of.
Want - Eden
Need - Father Figure
Serves his higher up Dr. Rice. They seek out Laura for capture.
Want - Capture Laura
Seeks out what he considers his mistake (because he can’t control her). Chooses to employ new means (X24) Believes his creations are things.
Want - Control over others
Need - Change, but doesn’t and therefore dies
Logan gets a call by Gabriela to help her and Laura to get to safety (Eden).
After the reluctance to accept the adventure, Logan sees he can solve his money problem to buy his boat if he takes this job.
After accepting the call too late, Logan finds Laura has rode with him back to base and Transigen is after her. Logan chooses to escape with Charles and Laura after seeing she is a mutant just like him.

This is a moment where Logan gets to understand the meaning and feeling of family and where Charles gets to experience family again. That it is inevitable we will all lose them someday, but the feeling is worth it. From here it only gets worse before better.
Logan loses Charles, his father. The one person he was caring for. Logan feels he has nothing else to live for, his father and idea of living on the ocean are gone.
The emotional reaction of the characters after finding out everything they have been working towards is at stake, if not momentarily gone. Hence Dark Night of the Soul.
Now that Logan has lost everything, he has no other object of desire and chooses to help Laura get to Eden, even though he believes it does not exist.
Logan accepts helping Laura and they head off to North Dakota (Eden).
Choice - Stands up and fights for Laura and the Mutants.
Action/Reaction - Logan shoots both Dr. Rice and Pierce killing Dr. Rice.
Reaction - Having Dr. Rice defeated by Logan, Pierce releases X-24 to fight.
Choice - Logan takes on X-24 with the help of Laura. The children take on Pierce.
Action - Logan fights X-24, but is fatally wounded.
Action - Laura takes the shot and kills X-24 with the bullet Logan had saved for himself.
Reaction - Logan dies having served and sacrificed his life for the good, the children thus freeing the new mutants from the control of Transigen to the freedom of Eden.
Having sacrificed himself in saving the children/his kin from the power driven Transigen, the mutants now have a place of respite and autonomy.
2. Hero’s Journey Overview
2.1 Logan’s Hero’s Journey
As an alcoholic limo driver saving up to buy a boat for him and Charles, Logan believes anyone he cares about gets hurt so he avoids caring for anyone.
Called by Gabriella to help her and Laura.
Refuses to help even consider what she wants.
Called by Gabriela through Limo service. Still reluctant to accept, he is offered money to which he can buy his boat, solving his other problem, so he accepts.
Laura seems to be the aid to Logan, as he cannot fully become the father archetype without the daughter by which initiates him.
With Charles, his father, and Laura, his daughter, they cross a physical threshold and Logan crosses a physiological threshold. Now Logan is responsible for his father and daughter…New Domain/World.
Now with new responsibility and the choice to care for Laura, Logan must go through change, which he does with much resistance. But knowing the origin of Laura allows him to feel some empathy for her.
Balancing a father and daughter, Logan is tested to care for both, deliver Laura from Transgen, Charles from hurting others from his seizures and Logan himself from the pain of family.
Meets family who is willing to open their home and share the feeling of family.

As Charles passes and Laura is as child Logan has now been initiated as father. He has become one with the father spirit.
He now has no responsibility to Charles as physical form, but in turn has a responsibility to the father archetype and to his daughter and then the children of Eden.
Finding Eden.
After seeing that the children are in danger, he refuses to go back to his normal life.
In some stories the hero must escape with the Boon, but Logan does not escape with it, but in turn helps to protect it.
The children and the green medicine are the powerful guides that help bring Logan back.
Logan crosses the return threshold to the afterlife, having lived and served his purpose in this world.
Mastering the Fatherly archetype and serving its purpose as protector of the children he can pas into the spirit World from which he came.
Now in the spirit realm he lives freely from his pain and sufferings.
